A Black-owned barbershop that has served the community for 10 years has reopened in Bushwick.
Adrian Fanus Grooming faced its worst nightmare by moving to a new location at the start of the coronavirus pandemic in March--then having to close its doors.
“The feeling of being able to practice again is exhilarating, it’s second to none,” said 24-year veteran barber Adrian Fanus, who can’t stop smiling knowing he’s back.
“Two days after we moved in... we had to shut down,” said Fanus. He says clients were calling desperate to return.
“As much as we wanted to give our clients haircuts during the pandemic ... we just practiced restraint,” said Fanus.
The barber has groomed celebrities from Idris Elba to Forest Whitaker and is making sure each client is treated with celebrity treatment--in safety.
“We have to practice a lot of guidelines... wearing the masks ...constantly sanitizing the washing of our hands, and disinfecting the chair after each client.....using disposable capes,” said Fanus.
Fanus tells News 12 that he is excited to reopen his doors but he says that safety is key.
