A new coffee house in Brooklyn opened its doors Sunday in a grand way.

Excitement, enthusiasm and community was felt by many as they stood together to celebrate the grand opening of Qahwah House in Williamsburg.

Elected officials joined in to support business owner Ibrahim Alhasbani, who looks to serve a cultural experience. "Of course, we want to tell them Yemeni coffee is good, but we want to tell stories about Yemen,” Alhasbani says.

This is his second business in the states, with his other coffee house open in Michigan. However, this New York business took some time to open.

Alhasbani says, "It takes me first almost a year to prepare for everything...to ship the coffee from Yemen, to practice, to do also the ingredients for each drink."

The new business along Bedford Avenue came at a time when several businesses across the city have struggled to stay open amid the coronavirus pandemic. Alhasbani says it's just a new beginning.
