If the prices at the pump aren't enough, prices for homes in Westchester County are also on the rise.
Housing sales, however, declined in the second quarter of the year compared to the same period last year, according to the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors.
Sales of single-family homes were down 14%, but the median sale price stood at $885,000, an 8% increase.
Single-family home sales were also down in Putnam, Rockland and Orange counties, but median sale prices there also jumped above last year.
Realtors say rising inflation and higher interest rates will take their toll on the housing market, but this will be offset by strong buyer demand, low inventory and a strong labor market.
