The Westchester Square Business Improvement District has implemented security measures to protect its businesses amid the protests citywide over the death of George Floyd.
It implemented 24-hour security and drones that check the area for any attempts at looting. The security measures are meant to protect 250 businesses that span from Westchester Avenue to East Tremont Street.
The security officers will check in with local businesses to see if they need any additional support.
In addition to personal security, executive director Yasmin Cruz says the BID is working with the NYPD to ensure safety for the business community.
