New Yorkers may know this better than anyone...when you gotta go, you gotta go.
Now, thanks to Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine's office, paper maps have become available to New Yorkers that show where all the public bathrooms are around Manhattan.
Home to 8.5 million people and welcoming about 60 million tourists yearly, Manhattan's only has about 1,500 public restrooms.
Levine, in collaboration with social media influencer Teddy Seigel, creator of got2gonyc, are helping New Yorkers find public restrooms around the city.
"When you're caught out there and you don't know where to go, its not pleasant. So we've produced a map that lists every public restroom in the borough of Manhattan," said Levine.
The borough president passing out copies of the paper map to Manhattanites today. His office mailed out copies to 150,000 households citywide, too.
"This is public health. If you have a medical condition, you might need a bathroom frequently. If you have a little kid...If you're pregnant. We have all been caught out there because we move around in the city. And when you need that bathroom...It's helpful to know," he said.
Mayor Eric Adams announced efforts to renovate bathrooms across the boroughs earlier this year.
According to the borough president, legislation was recently passed, requiring the city to find locations for new public restrooms in each zip code citywide.
