With the West Indian American Day Carnival Association’s celebrations less than a month away, they held a behind-the- scenes tour of the Mas Camps and pan yards that will take to the streets of Brooklyn.
Preparations are already underway for the bands, costumes and floats that will line the streets during the West Indian American Day Carnival. Michael Joseph leads the band and says that energy, stamina and determination are just a few of the many qualities this band has that will bring them success.
For Kenneth Antoine, preparing the hundreds of costumes that are expected to be sold is more than business – it’s about putting the culture on full display.
“Freedom, happiness, and joy – that’s what our team is about,” said Antoine.
