A 40-year-old mother and her 12-year-old daughter are among the six injured in a Williamsbridge shooting on Monday.
News 12 spoke with their family outside of Jacobi Hospital where the two victims are recovering.
Josefina De La Cruz said the victims are her sister and niece. She said her sister was used as a human shield as shots poured into a business on White Plains Road.
De La Cruz said her sister was shot twice. According to officials, one of the bullets passed through her, hitting her daughter.
Police say the mother is in critical but stable condition, and her daughter is expected to be OK.
The family is asking for the suspects to turn themselves in.
"Only God can punish the person who did this, who is being crazy in the streets, shooting indiscriminately. He needs to have a conscience" said De La Crux, "There aren't animals in the streets, we are human beings like them."
Two men were caught on surveillance video firing shots from the street and running off on foot.
Police released photos of the suspects. They are now asking for the public's help to identify the two men.
