Investigators are searching for a woman accused of plowing her car into a hotel being used as a homeless shelter on Gerard Avenue.
Police tell News 12 that the driver of the vehicle got into an argument with management at the Ramada hotel before crashing her car through the lobby around 11 p.m. Monday.
The driver is a 26-year-old woman who has been staying as a resident at the temporary shelter, police say.
Shelter residents tell News 12 that after the crash, hotel staff went around the building telling residents to stay inside of their rooms because of an emergency.
Officials say there were no injuries, and no structural damage to the building. The hotel is one of many across the city being used as a homeless shelter during the pandemic.
The crash comes as the city halted moving about 8,000 homeless people from hotels back into shelters. The Legal Aid Society filed a lawsuit saying the move is illegal and inhumane.
