Woman fatally struck by pickup truck in Wantagh

A woman has been killed after being hit by a pickup truck in Nassau County Monday evening.
Elena Crowley, 53, of Wantagh, was hit by the vehicle around 5:30 p.m. in Wantagh, Nassau police say.
The driver was traveling westbound on Lufberry Avenue when he struck the pedestrian while turning onto Briard Street.
Crowley was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Detectives tell News 12 the 57-year-old driver of the GMC pickup remained at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
