A Bronx woman is sharing tips on how to be vegan on her Instagram page.
Herlina Pichardo has been a vegan for about seven months, and she says she doesn't sacrifice the staple Dominican dishes she grew up eating.
The elementary school teacher started her diet change when she was looking up healthier diets and almost everything she read suggested decreasing or eliminating animal products.
Pichardo says she realized Dominican foods are centered around rice, beans and root vegetables.
