An unidentified man slashed a woman across the face and stole her purse Friday night in Morris Park, according to police.
The victim, a 20-year-old college student, says she "felt a presence" behind her on Holland Ave. around 12 a.m. Without saying a word, the man tried to grab the phone out of her hand as she talked with a friend, she says.
The woman prevented her assailant from taking her phone, but he slashed her on the face, forced her to the ground and kicked her in the mouth.
Then he got away with her purse, which contained bank cards, personal papers and $25.
The woman received treatment at Jacobi Medical Center.
The violent attack is the latest in a series of slashings across the city.
