Cynthia Vann went to Lincoln Hospital to get treatment for a liver condition but died Sept. 27 after she was allegedly attacked in her sleep by her roommate.

Police sources close to the investigation tell News 12 that suspected killer is on the run.

Rosalie had plans to visit Cynthia in the hospital but found out she was dead while watching News 12.

"I was on my way to go visit her to the hospital, but I got to see the television when I heard the news," said Rosalie.

The community is dealing with feelings of pain and confusion, but this is not how they want Cynthia to be remembered.

"I started doing a project in her memory," said Rosalie.

A community garden that Cynthia helped create with her friend Rosalie Taledo will now be in her honor.

News 12 reached out to Lincoln Hospital multiple times over the past few days. A spokesperson sent News 12 a statement on Friday, which reads, "NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln is committed to the safety of its patients, staff, and visitors."
