Yankee mural retouched in anticipation of welcome parade
With opening day for the Yankees right around the corner, a retouched mural of a Bronx great is ready to go.
A mural of Yankee legend Mickey Mantle was painted in Concourse Village five years ago. On Wednesday, Bronx native Andre Treiner brought it back to life.
A few harsh winters took their toll on the artwork, but the Business Improvement District decided to spruce it up after sponsoring a welcome parade for the Yankees. A parade of this kind hasn't been held in the the area since Babe Ruth played for the Bronx Bombers.
The parade will be filled with student-athletes, bands and officials making their way down Grand Concourse.
Opening Day is March 28 and the parade will be the following day.
