Yankees prepare to retire Jeter’s No. 2
This weekend at Yankee Stadium, the Yankees will host the red-hot Houston Astros for a series that will end with the retirement of Derek Jeter's No. 2 jersey Sunday night.
Earlier this week, Jeter posted a video called "Thank You, New York" to YouTube. It garnered more than 40,000 views by Thursday evening.
"I think Sunday will be special," says Yankees manager Joe Girardi, who has the rare distinction of playing with and managing the team's former captain. "He does it with class. He works extremely hard. He's there for other people. He's a winner."
Other former Yankees and sports legends are expected to attend the ceremony.
