The Yankees secured a home field advantage for one of best rivalries in baseball.
The Bronx Bombers will take on the Boston Red Sox for a three game Wild Card series at Yankee stadium with the first pitch on Sept. 30.
Post-season was freshly painted on the diamond, as fans lined up early bringing their energy from all over the Bronx and beyond.
"I am predicting that the Yankees there is going to be a pitching matchup, cause there is two great pitchers on the mound, Yankees 2-1, somewhere in that range, I think it's going to be a pitching duel," said twin's Cooper and Carter who traveled from New Jersey.
Post-season play is also a big win for businesses along River avenue and 161st Street. The shelves were stocked with special merchandise at Stadium Souvenirs. Employees arrived early to prepare for the rush of fans looking to secure post-season swag ahead of the game.
"We come earlier for it, because we know people like to come three to four hours before the game starts to look around the stadium, buy merch and feel the energy of 161 in general," said Blanca Bonet, who works at the store.
The Yanks will have to win the series in order to advance to the division series.
