A 70-year-old woman who was struck by a stray bullet while riding an MTA bus in Brooklyn spoke to News 12 about her ordeal.
Near the corner of Fulton Street and Tompkins Avenue, community leaders, clergy members and first responders gathered to pray with Lydia Flores. She thanked everyone for their support, begging people to put the guns down.
The man who was behind the wheel of the bus was also in attendance.
Exclusive video shows the moments he realized Lydia had been shot and pulled over the bus on Fulton Street, just past Tomkins Avenue.
Lydia tells News 12 that she forgives the person who shot her. She says he knows it was an accident, and that she hopes God can help the community come together and help kids and get weapons off the streets.
Police say they are still searching for the suspects who were seen in surveillance video. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
