The Sisters of Divine Compassion are explaining the decision behind the closure of Preston High School.

The high school is set to close its doors at the end of the school year.

In a video statement released Friday, the sisters addressed the community's reaction.

They added that they know the administration did everything they could but that it is time for students to grieve this decision.

"We know they have worked tirelessly," the sisters said in part in the video.

Majority Leader Amanda Farias graduated from Preston High School back in 2007. Farias says her journey present day reflects all she learned in these halls years ago.

"Really like as I read through the letter and email, it also felt like where was the continuity of planning. How were we looking at students that were investing so much in and making sure that those investments were made for their future? So there was a lot of questions for me," said Farias.

Another rally is set to take place outside Good Counsel in White Plains this weekend.
