Young achiever: Baychester 8th-grader publishes 2 books, starts charity
One Bronx resident is putting his many talents to good use as a published author, business owner and the founder of a charity – and he’s only a teenager.
Denar Ralph, who is only 14 years old, already has two books in print.

“I decided, you know, why not put it pen to paper and tell people and it actually came out to be something pretty inspiring to a lot of people,” says Ralph.

It began with daily journal entries in the third grade and by the time he was 12, his writing was being published.
His first book, “Climbing the Ladder to Success,” came out in November of 2017.
Ralph is now in the eighth grade at Mount Saint Michael Academy, but being a student author isn’t the only thing on his plate.

While he was getting his work published, he also started his own business making custom origami arrangements.
He also set up a charity to help his parents' native Antigua recover from Hurricane Harvey.
Those efforts inspired Ralph to write and release book number two, “The Daily Climb,” within a year of his first.

“Always what hits me the most is when people give encouraging words, you know, that really helps me out a lot, that's what really inspires me to keep going,” says Ralph.
