Aging improvement district launches in BX
The borough's first aging improvement district was launched today with the hope of better serving seniors in The Bronx. The initiative was announced at the Sue Ginsberg Senior Center in Bronxwood. Local leaders say it is a constructive way for seniors to get together and target changes they'd like to see in their community. According to officials, six priority areas for seniors include transportation, housing, health and social services, community involvement, education and technology. Aging improvement districts have already sprouted in Manhattan and Brooklyn with positive results.
