Anti-gentrification rally opposes Mott Haven luxury apartments
An anti-gentrification rally was held in Mott Haven Thursday where protesters fought against the development of luxury apartments.
Protesters gathered outside 2401 Third Ave. at the proposed waterfront property of the luxury apartments, where rent would start at $2,900 a month.
Their message was to stop supporting gentrification and the development of unaffordable housing in the Bronx.
Patrica Jones, of Mott Haven, says she has lived in the area for more than three decades but can no longer afford it. She says more of her neighbors are moving where housing is less expensive.
News 12 reached out to the developer of the property, Keith Rubenstien, but he has yet to return our call.
