The crash comes as the Department of Transportation is undergoing a massive construction project for the Bronx River Parkway. Lanes are shifting between Exit 9 at Gun Hill Road up to Exit 10 at Wakefield Avenue as the DOT replaces the bridge that carries the expressway over the Metro-North rail. Two lanes will remain open on either side of the span. The DOT says this will be in effect through the end of March 2025.
