Belmont community members are coming together after a park was vandalized.
A Christopher Columbus statue in the D'Auria Murphy Triangle, located at the corner of Adams Place and Crescent Avenue, was splattered with red paint on Columbus Day.
In response, the community has adopted the park through a partnership with their parks department. Local businesses will help maintain the park with tools provided by the department.
District Manager Ivine Galarza says an event will be held within the next few weeks to kick off community upkeep of the park.
