Bronx business makes corned beef for St. Patrick's Day
A Bronx meat supplier had been preparing cuts of beef for the past five weeks in order to meet the demand for corned beef around St. Patrick's Day.
Some workers arrived at 2:30 a.m. at Nations Best in Hunts Point during the busy time. The company said it is the biggest manufacturer of corned beef in the state, tripling its business in the five-week period around St. Patrick's Day.
The meat arrived cut. Nations Best workers then trimmed the meat and sent the cuts through a machine that injected a solution. The meat cured for three days before being cooked or packaged at the facility.
The corned beef was then shipped to meet the demand. The company said it distributes its product not only across New York, but nationally.
