Bronx residents shocked over Trump win
Bronx residents were shocked Wednesday after learning Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election against Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton.
Many residents in Hunts Point and Mott Haven say they could not believe the results.
Trump was declared the winner of the 2016 presidential election early Wednesday morning, defeating Clinton 276-218 through the electoral college election results.
One Bronx woman who awoke to the news says she is puzzled.
"I think we have a lot of women out here today who are wondering how we could have a presidential candidate have racist comments and still become the president of the United States," she says.
"It's a little scary to think about the future of our country being held in the hands of a former reality TV star," says another resident.
One Bronx man says he's concerned for the Latino population in the borough. He says he is fearful that their voices will be drowned out, and that the concerns of the county's Latino population will fall on deaf ears.
Many residents say they are just wondering if President-elect Donald Trump will keep to his promise and truly make America great again.
