Bronx street named in honor of longtime community activist
Dozens of Bronx residents gathered for a special unveiling of a new street name on Saturday.
Crotona Park East between Prospect and Wilkens Avenues is now known as Juanita Hamilton Place, in honor of the beloved community activist.
Hamilton spent 40 years pushing to improve the community by creating a local drug treatment program and helping to get speed bumps on the street.
Her family says the street renaming is a great honor of her legacy.
