A Bronx street has been renamed for Batman co-creator Bill Finger.
"The creation of Batman by one of our own is a powerful testament to the creative genius of the Bronx," said City Councilman Ritchie Torres.
Finger helped create Batman with Bob Kane in the 1930s in the Bronx, but for years he never received credit. The co-naming comes decades after his death.
"Never would have thought in a million years he'd have a street name, but it's very fitting and it's such an honor," said his granddaughter Athena Finger.
A crowd of people, some donning their best Batman gear, showed up as 192nd Street and Grand Concourse became Bill Finger Way. The street sign is on the corner of Poe Park, where Kane and Finger would brainstorm and bounce ideas off each other, coming up with different characters and storylines.
