City Councilman Andy King facing slew of charges amid 3rd investigation
Another investigation is being launched into Councilmember Andy King after the City Council's Committee on Standards and Ethics announced Friday that he is now facing multiple charges.
This is now the third investigation into King and the committee voted to issue multiple charges against him. The charges are based on events that officials allege happened from 2017 up until two days ago.
They claim that King took part in conduct that violated multiple provisions of council resolutions, violated certain laws of the city of New York, possible laws of the state of New York, and rules and policies of the City Council.
King is also facing allegations of using public funds for his own personal benefit. Some of his charges include disorderly conduct, conflicts of interest violations, and violations of the council's anti-discrimination and harassment policy.
New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson released a statement saying, "These are incredibly disturbing allegations that follow a thorough investigation by the Council and the independent prosecutor. Council Member King has repeatedly disgraced his office with his actions. If these charges are found to be true, the Council should move to expel him."
