City probation officers work day and night -- including holidays -- to give others a second chance.
There are 26 offices with over 800 officers around the city offering people an alternative to stop them from landing behind bars.
In honor of Labor Day, the United Probation Association recognized their dedicated officers for their contributions to the communities they serve.
They say they're committed to finding ways to improve and connect with people trapped in criminal and juvenile justice systems. They say the process can be life changing for the officer and offender.
