Cop car headed to burglary before Jerome Ave. crash, fire

Authorities say the cop car that crashed and set off a huge fire on Jerome Avenue was responding to a burglary.

At least four cars ignited into flames after a police car crashed into a livery cab at around 7 p.m. Saturday night. Police say the livery cab was making a U-turn when the cop car crashed into it.

News 12 The Bronx was told that the fire was burning for 15 minutes before being put out.

Four people were treated for minor injuries, including two cops. All of the victims have been released from the hospital.

Police have not released any information on the alleged burglar.
