Police are calling it a crime of opportunity after a couple steals a purse with thousands of dollars inside at a popular department store earlier this month.
Police are searching for two people they say stole $7,000 from a woman's purse inside a Burlington Coat Factory.
The two suspects were seen pushing a stroller while walking into the popular store on Webster Avenue back on Nov. 8.
Investigators say after a 60-year-old woman left her purse inside a bathroom stall, the pair found the purse and went through it.
That’s when they found a plastic bag containing $7,000 inside. Police say the pair grabbed the cash and left the purse behind.
The two fled the store in an unknown direction.
Police believe the woman was in possession of the $7,000 for work-related purposes.
The investigation is ongoing.
