A daycare owner is accused of allegedly leaving a two-year-old girl in a car for four hours Wednesday in Morrisania.
Lydia Aldaylam says she dropped off her two children at P.S. 63 on Franklin Avenue at around 8 a.m. She says she called Mildred Berrios, the alleged daycare owner, to see if she could watch her third child, her two-year-old daughter Laila.
"She said she was parked right here in front of the school, and like at 8:05 I put her in the car. I put her in the car seat," said Aldaylam. Almost four hours later, Aldaylam claims she got a call from the police saying they found Laila in a car by herself.
They say they found her around the block from the daycare in front of 670 East 170th Street.
According to police, Berrios says she was in court at the time. Aldaylam says her daughter has been stressed, crying more than usual, and doesn't want to sleep alone.
She also says she's been in touch with her lawyer and plans to press charges.
Berrios was issued a desk appearance ticket and is due back in court on Jan. 14.
