As the debate continues over the president's plan to invite thousands of Syrian refugees into the United States, nearly 2,000 have already come to our shores.
Just 48 of those live in New York.
Bronx Pastor Bill Devlin of the Infinity Bible Church, who has visited both Syria and Paris, criticizes the president's plan to accept 10,000 additional refugees within the next year.
Mayor Bill de Blasio is among the supporters of the president's plan, while the governors of more than 30 states have vowed to do what they can to block refugees from entering.
Jeh Johnson, the head of the Department of Homeland Security, says the screening program in place for incoming refugees is stringent.
The current guidelines include in-person interviews taken overseas, security checks by multiple agencies, biometric and biographical data and fingerprint scanning.
