Hundreds of dogwood trees planted along the Mosholu Parkway could soon be removed.
Since they were installed two years ago as part of a Parks Department program to beautify the area, the trees have irked residents who say they are disrupting a historic landscape.
But the Friends of Mosholu Parkland group is defending the roughly 200 trees, saying they should remain where they are.
Elizabeth Quaranta, who is part of the group, says she doesn't know why officials would agree to remove the trees, which serve an environmental purpose.
The Parks Department says it will continue to communicate with stakeholders in the area before determining whether to move forward with a plan to uproot the dogwoods.
