Charges have been filed against a driver following a crash on the Grand Concourse Friday that sent five people to the hospital.
Among the victims is a woman in her 70s who is in critical condition.
Officials say the driver of a silver Mercedes hit a parked car and sped from the scene, then struck a Chevrolet Malibu at a red light.
The force from that crash caused the Malibu to strike the woman as she crossed the Grand Concourse at 175th Street.
The driver, identified as David Fennell, is facing charges of assault, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
The Department of Transportation has been handling an ongoing project to increase safety for pedestrians and drivers in the area of the crash.
