Employee accused of stealing from deli
A Bronx deli employee is accused of stealing $5,000 from the business two days after he was hired, the manager says.
The incident happened on May 6, inside of the Bedford Deli on East Bedford Park Boulevard in Bedford Park.
The manager says he hired the man just two days before he was seen on surveillance video stealing a bag containing the cash from behind the register.
The manager says he was desperate for a cashier and that the man spoke the same language he did so he hired him on the spot.
However, police say they believe the suspect is connected to other deli robberies in the area where he acts as an employee by gaining business owner's trust then he robs them.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
