FDNY: Explosion at site of Con Ed testing, no gas readings in area

The FDNY responded to an explosion at a Con Edison testing site at 35 East Clarke Place in the Bronx.

Con Edison told News 12 they were testing a gas main by pressurizing it with air and the line ruptured.

Con Edison says there are no gas readings in the area.
A spokesperson for Con Edison says there was no natural gas in the pipe. The blast damaged some cars in the area.
The FDNY says there are three engines, four trucks and a battalion chief on scene. The FDNY says the call came in a little before 3 p.m.

Two people were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
