Free HIV testing offered to mark National Latino AIDS Awareness Day

The city offered free HIV testing in all five boroughs Friday to mark National Latino AIDS Awareness Day. The testing was offered by city organizations and the New York City Health Department.

Free HIV testing offered to mark National Latino AIDS Awareness Day
The city offered free HIV testing in all five boroughs Friday to mark National Latino AIDS Awareness Day.
The testing was offered by city organizations and the New York City Health Department. 
The Bronx is currently the borough with the highest number of residents with HIV/AIDS in New York City.
Doctors say they recommend people get tested annually because of the prevalence of the virus.
The official AIDS Awareness Day for the Latino community is on Oct. 1, while World AIDS Day is on Dec. 1.
