Lawmakers are all calling for changes to a six-block stretch of road in Riverdale that’s known for being dangerous.
According to Vision Zero crash data, at least 13 injuries have been reported along the stretch of Riverdale Avenue in 2019 through July 31.
Two weeks ago, Councilman Andrew Cohen wrote to the city’s Department of Transportation requesting a study be done to look into safety improvements that can be made. He says he has not heard back from the agency.

He is hoping the city can install leading indicator traffic lights, pedestrian islands, and other “common sense” improvements.
A spokesperson for the city's Department of Transportation told News 12 that the "DOT is aware of requests for safety improvements to this segment of Riverdale Avenue and we are currently exploring what would be feasible."
They added that no deadly crashes have happened on the stretch since Vision Zero began in 2014.
