A memorial Mass was held Monday at Saint Athanasius Roman Catholic Church in Bensonhurst for NYPD officers who lost their lives on the job.
Men and women of NYPD Patrol Borough Brooklyn South filled the church to honor loved ones and colleagues who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The Mass has been held every year for about a decade. Family and friends say the Mass is always a packed house.
Assistant Chief Steven Powers read each of the 94 names of the officers from South Brooklyn who had died on the job since the early 1990s.
Michelle Fung says she still cries when she thinks about her late husband, Detective Kenny Fung, who died on the job 20 years ago from a heart attack.
"I have three sons that I brought up and it was tough for them also, and now they have grandchildren so that's what gets us going forward, but he never got to see them. That hurts," says Fung.
