PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police found a Bronx mom shot dead in a basement there -- and Virginia police say they arrested a man they caught driving her SUV.
Authorities say 50-year-old Vianelba Tavera, a mother of five from Soundview, was shot in the head in Philadelphia's Feltonville neighborhood.
She had last been seen leaving her home to head to Philly on July 28.
After a missing person report, police in Virginia spotted her SUV on July 30. They arrested 38-year-old Luis Negron-Martinez on car theft and weapon possession charges. They say they found a handgun in the car.
Relatives told WNBC that Tavera met Negron-Martinez nearly a year ago, and that she traveled from New York City to Philadelphia to see him every weekend.
AP wire services contributed to this report.
