Morrisania residents struggling without elevator for 2 weeks
Tenants of a Boston Road apartment complex are voicing their frustrations Saturday after struggling for nearly two weeks without a working elevator.
Residents say most people living in the 1316 Boston Road five-story building are seniors and have been trapped inside their apartments.
Daniel Kirby, chairman of the Tenant Association, says the management company, JHB, says the elevator is missing a part that has to be imported. Until it arrives, tenants will have to keep leaving their walkers, wheelchairs and scooters in the lobby.
News 12 The Bronx was told that one of the residents has called 311 and a petition is going around the building.
Tenants say that they have made at least four complaints about the elevator this year alone. Every time someone comes to fix the problem, the elevator breaks down again. This time is the longest they've gone again.
