A mother and her 2-year-old child were injured after a car involved in a police chase that began in the Bronx crashed into their vehicle in Mount Vernon.
Police say the woman and the child were rushed to the hospital after the crash.
It happened around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday when officers spotted a 2014silver Nissan speeding down Nereid Avenue in Woodlawn Heights.
Police say they attempted to pull the car over, but the driver continued to speed away.
The car continued to strike several parked cars on W. 4th Street before crashing, according to police.
The 34-year-old woman and her daughter were sitting in the back seat of the car. They were rushed to Jacobi Medical Center. The woman sustained a serious head injury, while her daughter was listed in stable condition, police say.
