Mott Haven residents concerned over needles in street, on sidewalk
Residents in Mott Haven are worried about needles and syringes littering area streets and sidewalks.
News 12 cameras captured images of needles around a bench and tree near the corner of East 145th Street and Willis Avenue.
Residents say it has been a problem now for more than a year.
One woman says she's worried because the needles and syringes could be infected, and they are being discarded only steps away from a day care center and several schools.
The Department of Sanitation told News 12 that residents can report needles or syringes to 311, and an officer from the environmental police unit will collect and dispose of them.
