A poll by Mount Sinai South Nassau found that Long Islanders appear unprepared for the threat of a tri-demic.
Cases of COVID-19, the flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) are on the rise but less than two-thirds of 600 respondents in the poll have gotten a flu shot.
Only a little over 50% of those asked received a COVID-19 booster shot.
Some said the shot makes they sick or they do not believe it is safe.
"People can get side effects from vaccines but as everything in medicine, there's a risk benefit ratio and the overwhelming evidence, hard evidence supports the usage of these vaccines that we're recommending," said Chief of Infectious Diseases Aaron Glatt
Health care experts are also advising people to be careful at holiday gatherings.
