MTA employees are demanding that more be done to prevent attacks on bus drivers and train conductors.
Denaul Jenkins is one of many MTA workers who has been through a terrifying incident while on the job. He was stabbed on the left side of his abdomen just two weeks ago in the Bronx.
Experiences like Jenkins' sparked Friday's rally, where the Transport Workers Union joined with MTA employees. Demonstrators marched from Brooklyn to City Hall, demanding more action to avoid these incidents from happening.
Many employees like Jenkins identified the majority of their attackers are angry customers or emotionally disturbed people.
The MTA says it is working to keep its employees safe, saying, "We work closely with our labor and law enforcement partners to help ensure that they ge the strongest protections possible."
