NYPD: Bronx homicide rates show significant increase
Some new alarming numbers by the NYPD show that neighborhoods in the Bronx are more dangerous than they were last year.
According to new data acquired by the NYPD, the Bronx has shown a significant increase in homicide rates compared to this time last year.
Police say that recent data shows there have already been 21 murders in the Bronx this year. At this point in 2014, there were 17.
That trend is extending past the Bronx, and continuing city-wide as well.
According to the NYPD, there is a murder rate increase of 15.5 percent across all five boroughs. At this time last year, there were 71 murders and in 2015 there have been 82 murders.
