NYPD deputy inspector to testify before grand jury in sexual misconduct case
An attorney for the NYPD deputy inspector accused of sexual misconduct told a judge Thursday that his client had agreed to testify before a grand jury.
"We are confident that when all of the facts come out, he will be fully vindicated," said Louis C. La Pietra, an attorney for Deputy Inspector Keith Walton.
Prosecutors accuse Walton of forcing himself on a female officer last month. Court documents describe an event in which Walton allegedly forced the woman into his office and touched her genitals without consent.
Walton, 44, is a 20-year NYPD veteran. Supporters praised his work in their community. A half-dozen of them attended the hearing in a show of support. They say they want him to return to his job.
Walton will address the grand jury on Dec. 14. His supporters say they will attend that court date as well.
