NYPD links man to 7 chain thefts in the Bronx
Police are linking a single man to a chain of necklace snatchings in at least four different NYPD precincts.
They say they suspect the same person in seven robberies that took place in July and August. The most recent occurred last week at West 195th Street and Jerome Avenue.
In all of the cases, a thief approached his victims from behind and stole chains right off their necks. He has also shoved some of the victims to the ground and hit them in the head, police say.
In at least one instance, surveillance video appeared to show the suspect fleeing in a car, but police say he has used multiple vehicles as getaway cars.
Police say he is around 20 years old, with a dark complexion and was last seen wearing a multicolored baseball hat and shirt.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
