OEM warns of scorching temperatures
With scorching summer heat hitting the borough, the Office of Emergency Management wants to make sure New Yorkers are taking the proper precautions to stay safe.
The agency is reminding residents to stay hydrated while outdoors by drinking lots of water.
The OEM also advises to limit any strenuous activity and to check on those particularly vulnerable to the heat, such as young children, senior citizens or people with pre-existing medical conditions.
For those without air conditioning, the city has opened cooling centers which will be available through Monday.
