Thousands of Bronx natives came back to their old neighborhood Saturday to take park in an annual celebration.
Olinville Park Old Timers’ Day is a chance for members of the community to reunite with friends and neighbors they haven’t seen in years.
Councilman Andy King sponsors the event that is in its 44th year and was started by his father after he and five other men witnessed former Olympian Tom Henderson walk to a nearby park where he grew up. They grabbed a grill, put on some music and the event was born.
The event features music, food and good conversation among friends.
King also hands out awards to those especially involved in the community.
